This aspen tree painting was a commissioned piece by my friend Rich. The idea is based off of the Four Seasons commission which you can check out in previous posts. The painting shows the transformation of the tree through the four seasons- winter starts at the far right moving to fall on the far left. I really love how this piece turned out. I've added more background trees than the original to give a forest context to the main tree that spans across the canvases. The painting really pops in the right lighting because I used some silver and copper metallic paints. The silver is used in the ice, and the veins of the spring and summer leaves. The copper is used in the veins of the fall leaves. These canvases are also raised rather than flush with the wall. It really emphasizes the separation of the canvases. The canvases are hung temporarily in this picture and I envision them being spaced out a bit more to show the wall in between. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I'm really glad that Rich loves it too!
Stay tunned for my next commission piece that is in the beginning stages. I've produced a few studies for it, and have a good vibe about how it will turn out.
This is a beautiful painting! I found your blog while searching for seasonal tree pictures. Yours is by far my favorite. Do you sell your work online?
