Dolce far niente

I had been working on this piece for quite some time now and am glad to say it is finished. The title, Dolce far niente, is literally translated to "There's nothing sweeter" in Italian. The more common meaning is "sweet idleness". I'm really happy with the way the carelessly spilling coffee turned out. The coffee is a liquid plaster mix, and the paint is spray, acrylic, and oil.

My friend Minnie, with Minnie Mingle Events, is involved with planning a wedding for this Friday and asked last week if I had any paintings to display. I sent the inventory and the bride liked the Wine piece and asked if I had any to match. This baby was almost finished so I knocked it out over the weekend. It's nice to thin out the almost finished pile; it seems to grow daily. This painting looks great as a set with the wine bottle painting.

The main painting I'm working on now is a four canvas piece inspired by the Four Seasons painting I did a while back. I'm excited about it...the piece will be shhhaaweet, so stay tuned.

  1. Thanks for the input Will. You know you are in far too deep in the design world when you go to city planning seminars and (worse yet) you find them intriguing. :)

On an unrelated note, we heard what happened to your parents and are quite pissed about it. Your folks were the last people in the world that deserved such treatment. Ultimately these actions of the management will be to the detriment of HH. We are praying for everyone and have faith that God’s providential hand is guiding everyone to a better situation.
