Just finished this commission piece for Curt! I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I wish the pics could do it full justice. I used metallic paints for the highlights and the camera couldn't capture the reflection. So, just believe me that it looks even cooler in good lighting! The symbolism/subject matter is a personal story of trials, tribulations, and God's grace.
The picture above is the study for the piece, and the composition on the painting ended up being very similar. I took in more of the body of the figure on the actual painting because, when blown up to the actual size, it would make for a really big face. So I was able to use more detail with the body and arms on the foreground figure rather than on the silhouette.
All in all, I think it turned out cool. It looks like I've got two more commissions to do before Christmas while studying for my last two landscape architecture licensing exams; should make for a busy month!
Sahweet dude! I'm a fan of the color choice and that IS a nice looking canvas.
ReplyDeleteThanks brotha man! Yeah, it will be hanging on a brick wall which should make for a really cool backdrop. Cheers!
