I just finished this painting last night! I've been working on it for about a month now, and all it lacks is varnish. I'll post a better picture when the varnish is finished.
The piece is titled "Contrapposto" which is essentially the name of the pose. Master sculptors and painters have used this pose since antiquity. The stance is the epitome of harmony, and balance. For more on the stance check out Wikipedia.
I'm really getting into this style of realistic oils mixed with abstract acrylic. This piece is a study in itself, of form, balance, and harmony.
To update you on the behind the scenes action:
I'm getting some inventory together to swing by a few new display spots, and to check out some galleries.
The main commissioned piece I've been working on is still a W.I.P. (work in progress). I'm happy with how it's coming along and hope to have it finished soon. I'm using a lot of thick oil paint which seems to never dry...
I'm also finishing an oil from back in the day, and have decided to do an abstract realistic combo similar to Contrapposto. This is the painting so far:
I've almost finished the face, but the arms and body need a few more layers. I'm excited about the potential, and I'll keep you posted.
